Georgia set to reduce its troops in Iraq

TBILISI. Sept 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgia will reduce its military presence in Iraq from 2,000 to 300 soldiers within a year, Georgian Defense Minister David Kezerashvili said.

"We have agreed with the U.S. that the number of Georgian troops will be reduced from 2,000 to 300 by the summer of 2008," the minister told journalists on Friday.

Such a reduction was stipulated earlier when an agreement to send Georgian soldiers to Iraq was made, he said.
