MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Air Force command set up a commission to check media reports alleging that a Russian Ilyushin Il-76 military cargo plane recently violated Finland's airspace.
"The Air Force command has put together a commission to examine objective fight data for this plane and to check how the flight had been prepared and how it was conducted," Alexander Drobyshevsky, an aide to the Air Force commander, told Interfax-AVN.
The Il-76 in question was en route from the Chkalovsky airfield outside Kaliningrad to an airfield in the Tver region, Drobyshevsky said. The plane was on a planned flight and was equipped with all essential onboard navigation systems.
"All flights of Air Force planes in this district are under air traffic services' control," Drobyshevsky said.
