Russia, Germany discuss prevention of incidents at sea

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian-German negotiations on the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement on the prevention of incidents at sea outside territorial waters were held in Moscow on Friday, Igor Dygalo, an aide to the Russian Navy commander, told Interfax-AVN.

The negotiating teams considered the use by the Russian and German naval fleets of special signals designed under the agreement and ways to improve the safety of navigation of the two countries' ships and flights of their aircraft, and the efficiency of information exchange channels, Dygalo said.

The negotiators discussed "aspects of the existing level of cooperation between the Russian and German fleets and the need to expand it, especially in opposing new challenges and threats," Dygalo said.
