PSKOV. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A total of 120 Russian and Indian troopers were successfully airdropped near Pskov within the framework of the Indra-2007 antiterrorist exercise on Sunday.
The Indian troopers were airdropped from the Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft of the Indian Air Forces. "Though Indian troopers were delivered by means of Russian D-6 parachute systems in windy weather, the landing operation was successful and no emergency situations evolved," deputy commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Maj. Gen. Vyacheslav Borisov told Interfax-AVN.
Russian and Indian troopers set to accomplishing the main goal of the exercise - the search for terrorist bases - upon the landing.
The landing operation was supervised by Chief of the Indian Army Staff Joginder Jaswant Singh and Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Col. Gen. Alexander Kolmakov.
