U.S. coast guards’ delegation visits Kamchatka

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - A delegation of the 17th U.S. Coast Guard District arrived in Kamchatka with a working visit on Monday.

The delegation, headed by Vice Admiral Charles Wurster, the Commander, U.S. Coast Pacific Area, and Rear Admiral Arthur Brooks, Commander, 17th Coast Guard District, was airlifted by the U.S. coast guards' C-130 transport.

Far East boarder guard Director Valery Putov, who came to Kamchatka from Klhabarovsk, will head the hosting delegation.

The visit is to sum up the results of the cooperation, and draw up plans for future interaction, the Russian border guards' press service told Interfax-AVN, noting that the Boatwell ship of the U.S. 17th Coast Guard District will make a port call in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to stage a SAR exercise with the Russian Magadanets escort ship in the Avachinskaya Bay on Tuesday.

The joint delegation of U.S. and Russian coast guards will head for Magadan on Tuesday to meet with the city mayor and the governor of the region, the press service said.
