MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Units of the Abkhaz army are massing near the border with Georgia, and heavy weapons are now in the security zone in the Gali district bordering on Georgia, Abkhaz presidential envoy Ruslan Kishmaria said.
"The necessary amount of troops is at the border with Georgia, and heavy weapons are at the border of the security zone, but we have not crossed it yet," Kishmaria told Interfax-AVN.
The concentration of Abkhaz troops at the border with Georgia is in response to the situation in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict and the incident that took place in the Tkvarcheli district of Abkhazia on September 20, when Georgian special forces attacked a camp of Abkhaz recruits. Two Abkhaz servicemen were killed, and seven were taken prisoner in the incident.
