MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he hopes protests in Georgia will not lead to some kind of tragic event, including casualties.
"We hope these mass actions will not lead to some clashes or, God forbid, victims," Putin told journalists.
"I would like to point out that we express our hope that the mass protests would pass peacefully and both sides display maturity and political foresight," Putin said.
He said, however, that the events in Georgia were an internal affair of that country.
"As regards the events in Georgia, first of all, this is certainly an internal affair of Georgia itself," he said.
