Two militants killed, officer dies in Chechnya

GROZNY. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Two militants were killed and an officer died in Chechnya, while another five were wounded, Chechen law enforcement authorities told Interfax on Wednesday.

During a special operation between Tazen-Kala and Zhani-Vedeno, intelligence officers and members of illegal armed units clashed: two militants were killed.

As a result of the clash, one officer died of his wounds and another suffered injuries.

Meanwhile, militants in the Shali district near the village of Agishty fired from grenade launchers at one of the units of the 42nd Motor Rifle Division: four officers were wounded, including a woman.

A militant who used to be a member of warlord Arbi Barayev's gang has been detained in Chechnya.

An active member of an illegal armed unit who was involved in kidnapping and an armed attack in the town of Shalazhi in the Urus-Martan district was also detained during a sweep operation.
