Russia has no information on Iran’s aspirations to produce nukes – Putin (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has no information on Iran's aspiration to acquire nuclear weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We have no information proving that Iran aspires to produce nuclear weapons," Putin told a news conference following talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Wednesday.

"We do not have objective information proving this, and we assume that Iran does not have such plans," Putin said.

Sarkozy stated that Iran's readiness to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was crucial.

"I was told that Iranians are ready to continue cooperating. This is important. Of course, it is possible that our analysis of the situation in the country is wrong. Let's see whether they will cooperate and this is a subject for analysis. But what matters most is the will to cooperate. I think this is a crucial issue, this affects the whole planet," Sarkozy said.
