MINSK. Jan 25 (Interfax-AVN) - Polish customs officers who went on strike have barred traffic at two Belarusian checkpoints - Varshavsky Most and Domachevo, State Border Committee's chief spokesman Alexander Tishchenko told Interfax-AVN.
"Traffic has been stopped at the Varshavsky Most and Domachevo checkpoints because of a strike by Polish customs officers," he said. "This morning, Polish customs officers stopped letting transport pass through these checkpoints."
"Polish customs officers are only letting cars with diplomatic number plates pass through," Tishchenko said, adding that, "so far there are no critical queues at the Belarusian-Polish border."
"All other checkpoints at the Belarusian-Polish border are working as usual, but we would recommend Belarusian citizens not to travel to Poland by auto transport," the chief spokesman said.
"This situation also caused a problem for Polish autocarriers: they cannot enter Poland from Belarus".
"This situation is also causing problems for people who are going to EU countries," he said.
Earlier, the strike by Polish railway workers caused disruptions to railway connections between Poland and Ukraine.
