Prosecutor's office checks pre-trial detention facilities

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The prosecutor's office has requisitioned alcoholic drinks, and mobile phones from prisoners in pre-trial detention facilities, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office said.

During a comprehensive checking of the operation of pre-trial detention centers in Moscow, the Prosecutor's Office detected serious violations of the prisoners rights for buying first necessity goods, using additional paid services and timely study of their applications, it said.

"In addition, the Prosecutor's Office concluded the investigation of three criminal cases concerning the officials who brought banned things to prisoners. They were handed down sentences," it said.
