MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Tskhinvali intends to ask Moscow to cancel economic sanctions in relation to South Ossetia, South Ossetian leader Yuri Morozov told Interfax.
"Naturally, we shall seek the same favors for South Ossetia as for Abkhazia," Morozov said on Friday.
This is necessary to improve the economic situation in South Ossetia.
"We shall also request an increase of donor aid from Russia," he said.
He recalled earlier that Tskhinvali received 110 million rubles in aid from Russia which was spent on reconstruction and infrastructure repairs including a somatic hospital, dentistry clinic, a school and a hospital.
He also recalled that the funds allocated in from the decision of the donor conference in Brussels in 2006, 8 million euro, have not reached South Ossetia. It might be explained by the fact that the "Georgian side has been blocking international aid," he said.
Asked if Georgia might use possible transit of goods across South Ossetia to Russia in case Moscow cancels economic sanctions in relation to South Ossetia, he answered negatively.
Earlier the Russian Foreign Ministry said Russia was withdrawing from the regime of banning trade and economic, financial, transport and other links with Abkhazia in terms of interstate relations.
