Events calendar for Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Interfax-AVN plans to cover the following events on Tuesday, March 18, 2008:

- Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov and Defense Minister A. Serdyukov are to hold a two-on-two meeting with their U.S. counterparts Condoleeza Rice and Robert Gates at the Foreign Ministry building at 17, Spiridonovka Str. at 10:00 a.m. The press conference is expected to be held after the meeting. Journalists are allowed to enter at 9:00 a.m.

- The CSTO Joint Headquarters at 41, Lenigradsky Bvd. Is to host the first meeting of the Coordination Council on Emergency Situations to be attended by emergencies ministers of organization's member-states including Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

- The Moscow region's Alabino parade ground is to see the training of the mechanized column to take part in the May 9 parade in Red Square. Uniform, color scheme and equipment demonstration is in plans.

- The Military University of the Defense Ministry at 14, B. Sadovaya. Str. Is to host a meeting of the Public Chamber on veteran, service members and their dependants to address life and health preservation issues. The meeting is to be attended by Chamber's Chairman A. Kanshin, Chief of Armed Forces Training Department Lt. Gen. A. Bashlakov, First Deputy Interior Ministry Force Commander Col. Gen. E. Boryaev and representatives of federal and regional executive and legislative bodies, law enforcement agencies, social organizations, medical experts and servicemen. - The Federation Council's Defense and Security Committee is to discuss current state and problems of legal framework of Russia's peacekeeping efforts during the meeting at the Federation Council's building at 26, B. Dmitrovka Str. at 12:00 a.m. The meeting is to be attended by deputy Foreign Minister A. Yakovenko, deputy Interior Minister A. Chekalin, and other high-ranking officials.

- The comprehensive examination of the Russia-Korean main and backup crews is to continue in Star City's Cosmonaut Training Center. The cosmonauts will man the crew of the next spacecraft to take them to the ISS on April 8.
