MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The Joint Peacekeeping Force in the zone of the conflict between Georgia and its breakaway South Ossetia region accused Georgian police on Thursday evening of having obstructed the delivery of food, medicines and other vital goods to South Ossetian villages for the past three days.
An inspection on Thursday requested by South Ossetia showed that "the personnel of Georgian Interior Ministry posts in the villages of Adzvi, Ergneti and Orchosani and between the villages of Gromi and Mejvriskhevi, citing instructions from the leadership of the interior department [of the town of Gori], have for the third day running been obstructing the delivery of food, vital goods and medicine to the population of the villages of Gromi, Tsinagari, Orchosani and Artsevi, including deliveries from territory controlled by the Georgian side," the force, which comprises Georgian, South Ossetian and Russian troops, said in a report.
The co-chairmen of the Joint Control Commission, a Georgian-South Ossetian-Russian body seeking a solution to the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict, were notified of the inspection results, the report said.
