Duma approves bill restricting foreign investment in strategic enterprises

MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax-AVN) - The State Duma approved in a third reading a bill that restricts foreign investment in enterprises designated as having strategic significance for defense and state security.

The restrictions apply to 42 economic segments including: production and sale of specialty technologies; the nuclear industry; aviation and aerospace; design, production and trade in arms and defense technology; geological research, exploration and resource extraction at deposits designated as having federal significance; and harvesting of maritime bio-resources.

The bill also applies to certain categories of radio and TV broadcasting, printing enterprises and the print media. It would restrict foreign participation in ownership of printing enterprises with capacity to print no less than 2 million sheets a month and print media periodicals that have a circulation of no less than 1 million.
