MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Warships and a submarine of Russia's Black Sea Fleet are in the sea on a training mission, which includes torpedo and artillery firing.
The submarine Alrosa and the sea trawler Vice Admiral Zhukov are perfecting navigation and naval combat skills, the Black Sea Fleet said in a statement on Thursday.
"The submarine crew are planting mines and performing mine-sweeping operations, and are engaged in torpedo firing, and will then prepare the fleet's anti-submarine forces," the Black Sea Fleet said.
The sea trawler Ivan Golubets, a missile boat, and the rescue vessel Epron provide the backing for the submarine,
The trawler crew are practicing artillery firing at a sea target and a floating mine, and also D-bomb firing. They will also practice planting mines and mine-sweeping operations with the use of contact and non-contact sweeps.
Earlier, training tasks had been fulfilled by the trawler Turbinist, which returned to the main base on April 1, the statement says.
