Yangizbiyev was spotted at about 11 p.m., Moscow time on Saturday. He refused to surrender, and was killed after he got into a fight with federal law enforcement officers, the spokesman also said.

"Yangizbiyev was suspected of killing police officers in the Khasavyurt district and in Pokrovoskoye. He was also suspected of blasting police vehicles and carrying our armed attacks against law enforcement officials," he said.
