Peacekeepers refute media report on incident in western Georgia

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian media reports on a brawl between Russian peacekeepers and local residents in western Georgia have nothing to do with the reality, head of the Information and Public Affairs Service of the North Caucasian Military District Andrei Bobrun told Interfax-AVN on Sunday.

"The reports have nothing to do with the reality. The stated incident did not take place. All Russian peacekeepers see their service in line with the mandate at their positions as usual," Bobrun said.

Georgia's Rustavi 2 TV company reported earlier on Sunday that a woman was wounded in a brawl, which erupted between Russian peacekeepers deployed in the Zugdidi district and local residents and which resulted in gunfire.
