MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The integrative processes in the Russian engine building should be intensified, with serious increase provided in its financing, thinks Alexei Fyodorov, the President of the United Aircraft Corporation.
"We have deep concerns over the situation in the domestic engine building sector, because the consolidation of engine manufacturers is delayed, and no problems can be solved until the process is over. We are also concerned with the fact that there is no concept of funding of the engine building sector," he told the press during the Dvigateli (Engines) 2008 international show in Moscow.
"The state provides real support to aircraft building in terms of finding and organizational efforts. However, in the engine building sector the process seems to have stalled," he said, noting that given the development of new engines often takes more time than the development of an aircraft, the UAC is very much concerned with this problem under the circumstances.
"We will do our best to lobby a program of state support for engine building and intensification of the processes of consolidation of engine manufacturing assets. We understand, that no new aircraft can be developed, especially for combat, without an engine," he said, adding that in the civilian sector the development should be aimed at the integration with world leaders, including Pratt&Whitney, Rolls-Royce, General Electric and Snecma.
"Even if these processes could hardly be called consolidation, we must try to cooperate," he added.
