MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has offered a ceasefire to Israel.
"We have asked brotherly Egypt to contact all the parties to enforce this ceasefire," Abbas said speaking at the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations on Thursday.
Abbas insisted that both parties have to take steps to enforce the ceasefire.
"Missile launches and military operations are interrelated," Abbas said. Palestine would like "to switch to a ceasefire immediately."
Taking into account the latest events in Gaza, where the situation took a dramatic turn for the worse on Thursday, "it is necessary to find a quick solution," he said.
