Mass brawl in Tver leaves 6 injured – source

TVER. April 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Six people, one of them now in a coma, have been injured in a mass brawl between students of the Tver State Agriculture Academy and local youths, a source with regional law enforcement told Interfax on Friday.

The mass brawl happened in Sakharovo, a Tver suburb, where the dormitory of the Tver State Agriculture Academy is situated, in the early hours of April 16.

"Over 100 people were involved in the brawl: youths from the Sakharovo village and students of the academy from the various region's districts living the dormitory," the source said.

The brawl started following a dispute between students and Sakharovo youths at a local nightclub, the source said.

"The parties came to the park near a cultural center to settle the dispute. They used [baseball] bats, metal rods, and broken glass as weapons. Participants in the brawl damaged several cars near the dormitory and set one of them on fire," the source said.

One of the participants of the fight, a student of the academy, was hospitalized with a serious head injury, the source said.
