KUALA LUMPUR. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The new Angara light-class carrier rocket will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2010, and its operation will start from 2011, Space Troops Commander Col. Gen. Vladimir Popovkin told Interfax-AVN.
"Today there is no reason to speak of delaying the start of Angara flight tests scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2010. As for the first working launch, it is slated for the first quarter of 2011," Popovkin said.
Currently, three types of the Angara rocket are being designed: light-, medium- and heavy-class, he said.
The Defense Ministry is interested in the light- and heavy-class Angara.
