Rostekhnologii will oversee performance of arms export contracts

KUALA LUMPUR. April 22 (Interfax-AVN) - State-owned corporation Rostekhnologi will from now on oversee how contracts signed with Rosoboronexport are being performed by defense companies.

"Rostekhnologii has been set up first and foremost for providing practical assistance to companies, including those in the defense industry. At the moment, Rosoboronexport is involved in irrelevant activities. For each contract we sign a commission with companies, of which there are more than 700. Monitoring these contracts takes an enormous amount of money and effort. Now that Rostekhnologii has been created we can entrust all these duties to the corporation," Rosoboronexport's General Director Anatoly Isaikin told a press conference at the DSA-2008 arms fair in Malaysia on Tuesday.

This will save a lot of time for the company and will enable it to operate directly on the foreign market, he said.
