MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has noted the serious differences in the Russian and Japanese positions on the territorial dispute and has stated that an agreement on the issue can only be one that is mutually acceptable.
"Despite serious differences in our positions, dialogue on a peace accord has continued," a high-ranking source in the Kremlin told Interfax ahead of the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda on Friday.
"The Russian side has reiterated its readiness for a patient and calm continuation of the talks on the basis of a common understanding that an agreement on the territorial dispute can only be one that is mutually acceptable," the source said.
