Lithuania sends radar experts to Georgia to investigate drone shooting

VILNIUS. April 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Lithuanian military aircraft and radar experts have flown out to Georgia to investigate the recent drone shooting jointly with an international group of experts.

"An exhaustive and objective independent investigation by international experts will help clarify the circumstances of the incident, discard baseless interpretations and speculation, and rule out such incidents in the future," Lithuanian Defense Ministry Secretary Renatas Norkus said.

Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, the United States and Britain have responded to Georgia's request for assistance in investigating the incident, besides Lithuania.

The international experts will start working on April 29.

Earlier reports said that a Georgian reconnaissance drone was shot down in Abkhazia on April 20.

Georgia argue that the plane had been shot down by a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet. Abkhazia and Russia maintain the plane had been downed by Abkhaz air defense forces.
