Kazakhstan creates National Aerospace Association

ASTANA. May 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Kazakhstan has created a National Aerospace Association that will promote large-scale national space and aviation projects, the Association's initiative group leader and Kazaeronavigatsia Director General Sergei Kulnazarov said in a statement.

"By creating the National Aerospace Association we wish to contribute to national efforts to solve the problems of the space center [Baikonur]. The airspace sector has reached a certain maturity in Kazakhstan. The problems of a transitional period in civil aviation have been solved, transportation has grown and ground infrastructure has been developing. Modern aircraft have been purchased on a large scale," he said.

The association can develop space tourism, create a Kazakh rocket carrier in close cooperation with Russian and other foreign companies, he said.

The development of business and small aviation could be another area of the association's activity, he said.
