N. Korea calls on U.S., S. Korea to end military exercises

BEIJING. July 1 (Interfax-AVN) -- North Korea demanded that the USA should end the bilateral military exercise with South Korea, which Pyongyang regards a provocation, reads North Korean Nodong Sinmun daily.

"If the USA does want a dialogue to resolve the issues still on the agenda, it should stop conducting military exercises, which are aimed against North Korea," Chinese mass media quotes the Korean newspaper.

It also says that further efforts are requisite at the moment to ensure mutual confidence as the talks are in progress, but the U.S.-led exercises aimed against North Korea only worsen the situation.

Nodon Sinmun, which is the newspaper of the North Korean Workers' Party, warns that if the U.S. continues threatening North Korea with force, the peace on the Korean peninsula cannot be guaranteed.
