BEIJING. July 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The two days of talks between the six chief negotiators on the North Korean nuclear problem give reason to believe that some progress could be achieved, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin, the head of the Russian delegation.
"The parties seem to be very involved in active discussions. Certainly some progress has been made on the basis of what was achieved earlier," he said in Beijing on Friday evening.
"We are now discussing matters that give reason to hope that there will be further progress in the process of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," the diplomat said.
"During the process problems and issues arise that we are trying to resolve, first of all, with the help of the Chinese chairman," he said, adding that so far any comment on the results would be uncalled for.
"But we hope that we will reach the final with a good result," said the Russian official.
The work will continue on Saturday, and hopefully, the negotiators will agree on the final statement of the talks' chairman, he said.
