MOSCOW. July 22 (Interfax-AVN) - It is expected that a Russian-Venezuelan basic agreement on shipments of military equipment will be signed within the framework of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez' visit to Russia, Rosoboronexport spokesman Vyacheslav Davidenko told Interfax-AVN.

"This document, prepared with regard to the experience of the first years of cooperation, will allow in the future to ensure quick deliveries of arms and military hardware in the interests of Venezuela's security with the observance of international obligations and the laws of both countries," Davidenko said.

The majority of earlier signed military-technical contracts worth about $4 billion either have been implemented or are at the final stage of implementation, he said.
