MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax-AVN) - A rally was held near a checkpoint of Russian peacekeepers in the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict zone on Thursday morning, the combined headquarters of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces said in a statement.
"Georgia organized an impromptu rally, which started near the Russian peacekeeping checkpoint Megvrekisi at 9:15 a.m. on July 24, to which local population is being delivered by passenger vehicles," it said.
A team of military observers and an official from the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) mission headed for the scene to find out the reasons for the rally, the statement said.
