MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's draft military strategy for the period up to 2030 stipulates that conscription will remain in Russia for at least 20 years.
It is proposed in the document obtained by Interfax to draft Russians aged from 18 to 27 for 12 months.
"Non-reservists are drafted in line with presidential decrees twice a year: from April 1 throughout July 15 and from October 1 throughout December 31. This requires attending a medical examination, a meeting of the draft commission, as well as a draft office in order to be dispatched to a military unit," the draft strategy says.
Regarding professional soldiers, Russian citizens aged from 18 to 40 and foreigners aged from 18 to 30 are expected to be doing contractual military service as privates and sergeants.
