S. Ossetia ready for JCC-mediated dialogue with Georgia – Kokoity (Part 2)

TSKHINVALI. Aug 6 (Interfax-AVN) - South Ossetia is ready for a dialogue with Georgia only in the four-party format.

"We support the Russian and ambassador Popov's efforts and are ready to begin the dialogue in the four-party format," South Ossetian president Eduard Kokoity told Interfax on Wednesday.

The Joint Control Commission format "has not outlived itself and offers good prospects for negotiation," he said.

Talks can only be held in the format involving Russia, South Ossetia, North Ossetia and Georgia, he said. "There will be no change in the format," Kokoity said.

"We are ready to meet only in the JCC framework, and there will be no talks in the [bilateral] format that is being proposed to us by Georgia," the South Ossetian leader said.
