NATO secretary general urges conflicting parties in S. Ossetia to end fighting

BRUSSELS. Aug 8 (Interfax-AVN) - NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said he is seriously concerned about the situation in Georgia's South Ossetia region.

The Alliance is closely following the developments, de Hoop Scheffer said in a statement in Brussels on Friday.

The NATO secretary general urged all parties in the conflict to end armed clashes and start direct talks.
