TSKHINVALI. Aug 11 (Interfax-AVN) - President of breakaway South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity has said that the armed forces of his republic will soon assume control over the entire territory of South Ossetia.
"We fully control Tskhinvali and all the surrounding heights. We will soon assume control over the entire territory of South Ossetia," he said to Interfax on Monday.
Speaking of civilian casualties Kokoity said: "They are counted in thousands. Dead bodies of civilians remain under the debris in Tskhinvali."
Commenting on Russian citizens being detained in Georgia and not allowed to leave it he said: "If a single hair drops from their heads, we will apply not absolutely humane methods to Georgian POWs."
Asked how many Georgians were taken prisoner Kokoity said: "There are many of them and they are now starting to clean the streets of Tskhinvali."
