Rostekhnologii chief Chemezov downbeat over AiRUnion

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Sergei Chemezov, general director of the state Russian Technologies (Rostekhnologii) corporation, said he was downbeat over the current state of the airlines that are due to form the AiRUnion alliance.

"We haven't yet completed the audit, and not just the financial one, but an audit of the companies in general. To be honest the picture isn't comforting," Chemezov told reporters.

Chemezov said the airlines had significant debts and that their fleets were antiquated. The fleet needs to be changed almost in its entirety, by 80%," he said.

"We've sent our own financial and aviation experts there. Those two will do for the time being, but more will be needed," Chemezov said.

Rostekhnologii will receive a controlling stake in AiRUnion.
