KYIV. Sept 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko believes the location of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine may pose a threat to Ukraine's national security.
"No doubt, we are worried about the use of the military force of the Black Sea Fleet because such mechanisms reinforce and involve Ukraine in such military situations. It is not in our national interests," Yushchenko said during a briefing given jointly with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in Kyiv on Friday.
Yushchenko also stressed Russia's recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia is unacceptable for Ukraine.
