MOSCOW. Sept 15 (Interfax-AVN) - A Russian embassy will be opened in Abkhazia before the end of 2008, a Russian Foreign Ministry source has announced.
"Our embassy in Abkhazia will start functioning before New Year," the source told the press on Monday.
A plot of land has been assigned in Sukhumi for the Russian diplomatic mission where the embassy will be built, the diplomat said.
"We are interested in resolving all issues related to the beginning of the work of the embassy as soon as possible," he said.
The Russian ambassador to Abkhazia will be appointed shortly, he said.
"This may happened within a month's time," he said.
