MOSCOW/SAMARA. Sept 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The situation in penal colony No. 6 in the Samara region, where in an incident recently occurred in which 13 people were hurt, is under control," the Federal Service for the Enforcement of Punishments (FSIN) told Interfax.
"The situation in the colony is now stable and under control," the FSIN told Interfax on Wednesday.
According to FSIN, a number of inmates tried to set fire to a building in the colony around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
"Thirteen inmates, who do not support criminal traditions, sustained injuries. The people hurt in the incident have received medical aid, and four people have been hospitalized," says the report.
Two thousand inmates are currently serving sentences for grave crimes in the colony, says the report.
"One-third of these people have been serving their sentences for over 15 years, and a considerable number of inmates are serving sentences for drug dealing," General Valery Yakovlev, head of the FSIN Main Department for the Samara region, was quoted as saying.
