Three Glonass-M satellites delivered to orbit

MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax-AVN) - A Proton-M rocket has taken a DM booster and three Glonass-M satellites into space, a source at the Federal Space Agency told Interfax-AVN.

"The DM booster successfully separated from the rocket. It will bring the satellites to the designated orbit within several hours," the source said.

The satellites will have orbits with an altitude of 19,100 kilometers.

Once the designated orbit is reached, contact will be established with each of the satellites, and control and transmission-and-receivership systems will be checked. That may take from one to two months, the source.

The DM booster is a product of the Energia Aerospace Corporation in Korolyov, the Moscow region. It is a derivative from the D booster of the H1L3 space vehicle, originally designed for a manned flight to the Moon. The booster runs on liquid oxygen and kerosene.

The Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems based in Zheleznogorsk, the Krasnoyarsk territory, makes Glonass-M satellites.
