Russian armed forces to receive new uniforms in several years time– ministry

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian armed forces will not get new uniforms made under the supervision of fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin for at least another three years, a Defense Ministry source told Interfax-AVN.

"The new uniforms made in Russia under the supervision of couturier Valentin Yudashkin will become available only after 2011. No funds are assigned for the costly project [requiring 2.27 billion rubles next year alone] in the three-year budget of 2009-2011, which has been approved by the State Duma in the first reading," the source said.

The majority of military district commanders and veterans said that the uniforms did not meet the demand of the modern armed forces, he noted.
