MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax-AVN) - A group of Indian experts will come to Russia to become familiar with the flight tests of the AL-55I engine, which is being created by the Saturn research and industrial association for the Indian corporation NAL for test flights of NJT-36 planes, a source in the Russian defense industry told Interfax.
"At the beginning of the visit, which is expected to take place in the near future, the Indian specialists will conduct negotiations with the designers of the AL-55I engine on the further steps in the creation of the engine," the source said.
After these negotiations, the Indian experts will visit the Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky, Moscow region. "They will see test flights by MiG-AT planes, which are equipped with a AL-55I test engine and the French-made Larzak engine," the source said.
During the visit to the research institute, "meetings will be conducted to analyze the results of the work that has been done to create the AL-55I and outline a plan of further actions." The meeting participants may sign a document of the first results of the test flights of the AL-55I, the source said.
In October, a group of Russian aviation experts will visit India, the source said. "India still needs a two-engine test plane, and those negotiations may address the issue of such a plane," the source said.
"The test flights of the AL-55I have been a success, and the test flights are being conducted successfully," the source said.
