KYIV. Oct 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The Ukrainian state company Ukrspetsexport expects that negotiations with Russia's state company Rosoboronexport on setting up a joint venture for modernizing Ukrainian air defense systems and extending their service life could be resumed in the near future.
"We are not continuing negotiations on this issue for the time being. But I hope all problems between Ukraine and Russia will be removed in the near future and we will cooperate," Ukrspetsexport head Serhiy Bondarchuk said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
Ukraine was the initiator of the establishment of the joint venture on the basis of the Ukrainian company Ukroboronservice, taking into account the need for the modernization of Ukrainian air defense systems.
It was reported earlier that documents on setting up such a joint venture were virtually finalized in 2007 and were passing the final clearance procedures.
