Russia aims to suppress maritime piracy - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will insist on the suppression of maritime piracy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the media on his way from Yerevan to Moscow.

"Russia wants to stop the piracy outrage," he said.

The UN Security Council has adopted many resolutions to condemn piracy and to authorize naval nations to suppress pirate attacks. "We will fulfill these resolutions, the same as the United States, the European Union and countries located far from the Horn of Africa do," he said.
