Chinese warships to pay friendly visit to Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 13 (Interfax-AVN) - A detachment of Chinese warships, comprising the destroyer Tai Zhou and the missile frigate Ma Anshan, will pay an unofficial visit to the Pacific Fleet's main base Vladivostok on October 14 to 18.

The visit will proceed under the flag of the Chinese navy's East Sea Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Xu Hongmeng, who will arrive in the capital of Primorye specially for this occasion, the Pacific Fleet told Interfax on Monday.

The visit will be hosted by the large submarine chasers Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Tributs.

"The current meeting of Russian and Chinese naval crews will have one goal - to further develop naval cooperation between our countries' fleets," a Pacific Fleet spokesman said.

It is the fifth visit of Chinese warships to Vladivostok in the recent history of Russian-Chinese relations, he said.
