Squadron of Chinese warships arrives in Vladivostok on friendly visit

VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 14 (Interfax-AVN) - A squadron of warships belonging to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), consisting of destroyer Taizhou and missile frigate Ma'anshan, arrived at the port of Vladivostok, the main base of the Pacific Ocean Fleet (POF), on an informal visit on Tuesday.

This visit is taking place under the flag of the PLAN's East Sea Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Xu Hongmen, who arrived to the capital of the Primorsky Territory especially for this purpose.

Russian anti-submarine ships Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Tributs were the hosts for the visit.

"The key goal of the current meeting between Russian and Chinese sailors is to further develop naval cooperation between our countries' naval forces," the fleet's press officer said.

The guests will stay in the Primorksy Territory until October 18, he added.
