VLADIKAVKAZ. Oct 23 (Interfax-AVN) - A car belonging to Vladikavkaz deputy mayor Mairam Tamayev exploded outside the Hotel Vladikavkaz in the capital of North Ossetia on Wednesday evening, injuring the official.
According to early estimates, the explosion was equivalent in power to 50 grams of TNT, said a source at local law enforcement authorities.
"An uncovered explosive device went off in the car of the deputy mayor. It was planted under the right passenger seat," the source said.
Currently, the scene is cordoned off, investigative operations are underway. Experts are trying to qualify the crime, the source said.
Another source at the Vladikavkaz law enforcement authorities told Interfax earlier that, "the explosion of the silverish BMW 7 Series model occurred outside the Hotel Vladikavkaz."
