Hijacker of Russian plane insane – FSB

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax-AVN) - The passenger who made an abortive attempt to hijack a Moscow-bound airliner on Friday is a man who was tried for murder but pronounced insane and has taken psychiatric treatment, a spokesman for Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said.

The spokesman named the hijacker as Oleg Vasyanovich and said he was born in 1975.

The crew of the plane, which had taken off from the Russian Black Sea resort of Adler, "acted in a highly professional way in that situation," the spokesman told reporters.
