GROZNY. Oct 30 (Interfax-AVN) - A young man suspected of perpetrating terrorist acts against federal forces has been apprehended in Chechnya, Chechen operative headquarters spokesman Nikolai Varavin told Interfax on Thursday.
"Officers of the Shali district police department seized a 28- year-old native of the Vedeno district in the course of a special operation. There is information that the man was a member of an illegal armed unit and took part in terrorist acts against federal servicemen in 2000," he said.
Meanwhile, voluntary disarmament is in progress in Chechnya.
A local brought a hand grenade, which allegedly belonged to his deceased father, to the police station of the Nadeterechny district. If the information is correct, the man will receive a reward in line with the Chechen government resolution of 2004, Varavin said.
