S. Ossetia accuses Georgia of involvement in bridge blast

TSKHINVALI. Oct 31 (Interfax-AVN) - South Ossetia's acting Defense Minister Ibragim Gasseyev said the Georgian special services are likely to be behind the recent explosion of the bridge in the Ossetian village of Artsev.

The village of Artsev borders on the Georgian village of Kveshi. A bridge was blown up in Artsev in the early hours of October 31. There is information that it was blown up by Georgian special services," said Gasseyev.

No one was hurt in the explosion, the minister said. A group of South Ossetian law enforcement officials are currently working at the scene, he said.

The press service for the South Ossetian Interior Ministry told Interfax earlier that "the cause of the blast is unknown."

In the meantime, Lado Vardzelashvili, governor of the Georgian region Shido Kartly, has called the blast a terrorist attack.

"It's a real terrorist attack," Vardzelashvili told reporters on Friday.

"Apparently, the separatists are trying to isolate the territory they control," the governor said.
