License production of Su-27 in China could resume

ZHUHAI, China. Nov 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Rosoboronexport has proposed the Chinese side to resume license production of modified Sukhoi Su-27, which was stopped after 95 aircraft were produced.

"We did not get a categorical refusal not to produce Su-27 any more from the Chinese side. Today we propose to get back to the license production of modified Su-27 and Su-30," Rosoboronexport deputy director Alexander Mikheyev told Interfax-AVN at an air show in China.

Rosoboronexport understands that the old version of the aircraft will not be produced any more, and it will soon become clear what version China is interested in, he said.

The latest Su-25 multi-purpose fighter could be offered to China, he said. "The issue is about both option acquisition of serial aircraft and their license production. But this is not a question for today," he added.

Mikheyev also noted that Rosoboronexport developed a concept f promoting the export of Sukhoi aircraft.
